I'd like to thank all the little people . . .

I wanted to run (or fast-pace trot) at least one 1/2 marathon this year. I started to realize, however, that I better hurry if I wanted to do it in this lifetime. So I signed up for the Moab other half and gave myself six weeks or so to sincerely train. Long story short - I did it - in a respectable just over two hours time. But I couldn't have done it without the following:

New and delightful Saucony shoes. I won't go into details but I don't think I'll ever buy another pair of Nike's again.
A pair of individual toe work out socks. If you don't have these you are missing out. I want to go and buy 20 more pairs (ignore the red rock dust).
My trusty SAG. He drove me to Moab, found a hotel for me to stay in, drove me to the shuttle, picked me up, and drove me home. All for free! He even pretended like he enjoyed it.
But you can tell he was tired - I mean look at this picture.

Resolution - update

I, obviously, need more to blog about. Here's the resolution stats:

1)Watch more television - I really am not succeeding on this one. Not at all. Instead I have been doing one of the following: a) sleeping b) working c) reading. Not cool. But I have read a couple of great books: In the Time of the Butterflies (excellente!) and I just started "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" about a serial killer that kills other serial killers -I totally recommend this book to Kristal and Bre - totally- and I am only on page 12.

2) Fire our realtor - so so close - but no cigar. We decided to put an offer in on a house that he showed us - so we didn't feel like we could fire him . . .yet. If this offer doesn't go through (it's a short sale house so who knows) then we are totally over him. No question.

3) Display more knitted/macrame projects - well I did show off the awesome owl. I've got a Valentine's day project that will knock your socks off. Well, no, not really, but I really do require ooohs and aahs by others so I'll continue to display my creation prowess. I'm selfish and egotistical that way - so . . . more to come.

4) Clean my office. Sort of. I'm busy right now - I can't help it. Last night I made Ross stay late at work - he watched "the office" on the computer while I tried to straighten up. It looks better but I don't expect huge improvement until after January.

5) Wash face. Check. I ran into Lily last night at the store - even she complimented my skin. I give total credit to the triple O. (Not Oprah, oil of olay!)

6) I've decided that I won't be giving up diet dr. pepper anytime soon. Maybe later - but right now - it's just not worth it.

On a sidenote - I think I should make a resolution to lose important things - yesterday I lost my phone (now recovered - thank goodness).

Resolutions - more

1) Get a new realtor - without going into details suffice it to say that it really isn't cool when we show up for an appointment at a home showing and our realtor doesn't show up. It's hard to see a locked house. But the garage doors and driveway - look really awesome. We had a long time to sit in the driveway and just imagine what the house would be like if it was ours. We can't really make a decision about this house (because again -we didn't see the inside). But the garage doors look really, really nice. After waiting for about 35-40 minutes we left. FYI-after leaving multiple text and phone messages we heard back from our realtor - he forgot to call and tell us that the showing was cancelled. Whoops.

2) Post more pictures of my knitted crafts. Let's face it - I know everyone is dying to see what I've been making. I need to share my talent - and not just hide it under a bushel.

3) Clean my office. It kind of looks like an explosion. It's been a busy week.

Resolutions - continue

Is anyone else bored by my resolution posts? I kind of am, I admit it. Oh well - a theme is a theme and I must keep it going. This year I resolve the following:

1) To be healthy - it is only January 14th and I have already gone through two whole kleenex tissue boxes in my office. Finally, my cold is leaving. Finally. For the rest of the year - I plan on being a picture of health.

2) To be zit free. I have found that the secret to not having adult acne is washing my face - every morning and every night - right now I'm favoring Oil of Olay - it keeps me looking youthful. Sometimes, however, I get lazy at night. Don't judge me. The sleepiness just overcomes me and before I know it - my teeth are brushed and everything else seems too difficult. This year, however, I have made a concerted effort to wash and moisturize my head off (well, I have always been a big believer in moisturizer even if my face isn't clean).

Anyway - this year I resolve to have skin just like all those ladies on the soap operas - blemish free year round.

Resolution - movin' on movin' out

Resolution update - It is safe to say that I have a perfect resolution record of 3-0. Boots - check, haircut - check (it is shorter but looks the exact same - drastic change maybe in the Spring?), more television -well I could do better in this area - but I'm counting it. So what's left?

I'm debating about whether or not giving up my beloved diet dr. pepper for the year. It's not that I am addicted. I only have one a day (if that). But I do like it. A sweet treat. I'm thinking about it. This, however, is not official, and thus does not count as my resolution . . . yet.

For today - my new resolution is to buy a house. I mean the basement is great, but really at this point - we just need to decide about something and move on. After all, it is only a house. Only the largest purchase we'll ever make in our life. But whatever. We just need to decide on something already.

Resolution - more television

You read the title of this post right. This year - I resolve to watch more tv. What with, biggest loser, 24, damages, and the real housewives of orange county on - I really need to stop doing other things and instead just park it in front of the television. Hopefully I'll be able to report that I satisfied this goal with resounding success.

**update** I bought some new boots - so right now I'm 1-1 (my hair is still dangerously close to a polygamist).

Resolution - Haircut (for both of us)

As you can see - so far I am not really aiming high with my new year's resolutions. That being said, I am at 0-1 (Sports Authority didn't have boots in my size last night). Moving on. . .
I need a haircut. In the worst way. Long hair can be pretty - but it also can be um . . . just long. Right now I feel like my hair borders on making me look more like a polygamist woman than the awesome career woman that I am. Thus - I resolve to get a haircut. Saturday, in fact.

Ross, also needs a haircut. His "long-do" is just not cutting it. I have to do it every morning and then we both complain about it - him: "I don't like it" me: "you look really hip but stop messing it up." See - we just need to get back to our roots.

Resolution - NEW BOOTS (not heavy boots)

A lot of people post their new year's resolutions all in one fell swoop - not us. We are going to take it a day at a time for the entire month. Sweet. That means a lot of Carlklef Chronicles clogging your google reader.
For starters:

I resolve to get some new winter boots. I am a nice person and gave my too small winter boots to Shana (she better be wearing them!) and so now I am forced using some less than stellar winter boots. Uggs are not winter boots - uggs are fashionable and warm - but they have zero traction. (Especially if you are wearing imitation uggs that my mom gave me for Christmas).

As a result . . . this afternoon walking back from class - I totally biffed it. Right while I was talking (articulately) to some students. Totally. I mean, of course it was graceful, but I still fell. And this is what my knee now looks like. Ouch.
*UPDATE* No, this is not my leg - just one I quickly found on the internet - I apologize for the confusion - I thought it would be apparent that this wasn't my knee (because I didn't wear shorts to work - although I would have liked to). I am fine. If I bruise badly, however, I'll make sure to document the "incident." After all, I need it so I can sue.
