This morning, as I was walking into work, disaster happened . . . the slippery floor combined with the wet outside caused me to fall. HARD. I'm sitting here typing this with my goose egg growing and the headache throbbing.
Now, rest assured, I'm as graceful as a gazelle - it wasn't my fault. But I would like to show you the scene of the crime:
See - my head still hurts so bad that I couldn't even take a straight picture.
So far this is the status of the goose egg:
I must admit - that it hurt so bad that I hope it gets all bruised and gross because then I really will be able to justify suing. Ouch. Let the sympathy comments begin . . .
And I would go home - but let's face it - I don't want to hang out with the missionaries.

I'd like to thank all the little people . . .
I wanted to run (or fast-pace trot) at least one 1/2 marathon this year. I started to realize, however, that I better hurry if I wanted to do it in this lifetime. So I signed up for the Moab other half and gave myself six weeks or so to sincerely train. Long story short - I did it - in a respectable just over two hours time. But I couldn't have done it without the following:
New and delightful Saucony shoes. I won't go into details but I don't think I'll ever buy another pair of Nike's again.
A pair of individual toe work out socks. If you don't have these you are missing out. I want to go and buy 20 more pairs (ignore the red rock dust).
My trusty SAG. He drove me to Moab, found a hotel for me to stay in, drove me to the shuttle, picked me up, and drove me home. All for free! He even pretended like he enjoyed it.

This is what happens when you try to be awesome
I chose to not take a picture of myself also covered in spinach, pineapple, berry smoothie. No one needs to see that. The best part is - right before I did this Greg says, "Kitty don't do it - don't do it without the cover." I didn't even respond but thought in my head, "I'll show him how awesome my vita-mix is and I will do it without the cover to show that he is worrying senselessly." Well the joke was on me. I accidentally had it on "high" - there's no stopping the vita-mix when it is at that level. No stopping.

last chance workout
I am sure you are probably sick of hearing about "The Game" but it's really fun. Or funny. After a busy night of Young Ladies and a Court of Honor we found ourselves at 9:45 pm facing the fact that we had yet to get in our (at least) 20 minute of exercise. Because we both didn't want to let our teams down - I convinced Greg that we could do one of Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred workouts. He was skeptical. He assumed it would be a workout for sissies - 20 minutes later and even sweating a little (he never sweats) he ate his words. But his teammates shouldn't worry - he only ate his words - nothing else.

bring it
The Game starts today. I've been wanting to make some eating changes for awhile and now is the perfect opportunity. And with the Vita-Mix I plan on being unstoppable. For example, this morning I whipped myself up a smoothie of spinach, grapefruit, strawberries, grapes, and papaya. I will admit, however, that this wasn't my best concoction. But I worked hard and pounded it down - after all, my team is depending on me.Greg is a good sport. Not only is he the only male in the competition but we aren't even on the same team. I'll do my best to not sabotage him . . . but no promises.
As part of this we have also named some good habits we want to start and bad habits we want to break. For me, my good habit is to do yoga sun salutations everyday. I know that sounds kind of weird but to me it also sounds kind of nice and stretchy and relaxing. Greg is planning on making sure he reads the scriptures for 15 minutes everyday. Showoff.
My bad habit - I'm going to watch less television. Instead I'm going to focus on reading more and listening to books on tape while I work on all those knitted projects that I owe people. For Greg - he plans on breaking the bad habit of hitting the "snooze" button. When we found ourselves at the gym early this morning Greg said that he was motivated to wake up simply because he felt the pressure to not disappoint his ladies (aka teammates). Oh brother.
Let the games begin.

baby, it's "cold" outside
Have you ever had a cold so bad that it takes away your voice? That you keep waking yourself up in the night because you can hear yourself breathing? A cold so bad that even though you took Nyquil you still wake up at 1:30 am? I have. Oh wait. I do. It's not pretty. Don't even ask me how I'm going to teach my classes today. No really, don't ask me because I don't know.Excuse me now - I have to go blow my nose.

my eyes!
I had the eye surgery a long time ago. It's awesome. But slowly but surely - my eyes want to creep back into not being awesome and requiring glasses. I'm not there yet but when I'm tired - I like to use some spectacles (and because I look cool, classy and smart in them). Lately, however, Greg has done a few things that suggest to me that perhaps my eyes are worse than I thought.1) Greg hooked up this GINORMOUS monitor to my computer. I tried to help provide some scale of reference so that you could grasp the enormity of it all. Just imagine a computer hooked up to a 37 inch tv. (We went back to the small monitor - I couldn't handle it).
2) I asked Greg to pick this book up for me at the library and he came back with the correct book but in the "large print size." The fact that you can read the pages from the picture should help you realize that it is like I am reading a 1st grade book (but it isn't - there are a lot of cuss words in this book that wouldn't be appropriate for 1st graders).
Also - you may notice the color of the wall in the background of the computer pic - no longer crest blue - but the room isn't finished so I'm not providing an after picture- consider this an "in between." Also - I'm posting this post in small font just to prove to myself that my eyes aren't as bad as Greg seems to suggest.
