staycation - part one

So we have the whole week off this week and we are trying not to squander it. Originally, we had plans for a pretty fantastic road trip - we really, really, really, really wanted to go to Banff. But since we didn't get our act together and for a lot of other responsible adult reasons . . . it didn't work. So instead we are partying it up in our own non-party type of way. By working. Awesome-sauce.

Greg is painting while I construction manage the situation. It's pretty great.
I posted this picture on instagram and there was plenty of fashion advice to @gdanklef that perhaps black socks are not the best choice. I didn't even notice. I was just happy he was painting the part of our house that we have planned on painting for five years and have never done it.

Henry was very concerned about the situation and perhaps yelled "Be careful Daddy!" from his own vantage point 1,000 times.

(This picture is crappy - but trust me - that's what was going on).

He also insisted on "helping". A lot. It's slow going.

We are also starting to get out stuff for the incoming baby. Henry is a little possessive.

For the record, we have also gone to the li-library, swimming, playing with the cousins, out for ice cream, to sodalicious more times than I would like to admit, and the doctor. So you know, there are other haps happening. But with this paint job just about over we are ready to spend the rest of the week living it up.

It's Greg's birthday week - and let's face it - this birthday won't just celebrate itself.

(you probably think this banner was made by a professional - it wasn't - it was made by me. That's right despite what Toddcat thought - I got it finished ahead of schedule in time to celebrate whole birthday week - if I'm just going to be bossing about the painting and not actually painting -  I have to be productive).

Oh and one more - because hey - this kid likes ice cream (as a sidenote - he's one of the few people that can pull off a "v" t-shirt).

I don't think Henry's constant "be careful Daddy" is as much a safety precaution as it is a reminder to make good fashion choices. He's really trying to drive his point home. Beauty is only skin deep, but people do judge.

Speaking of fashion, Henry's shallow-v-T is very modest. When is he going to switch to the deep V t-shirt?
