1) It is one of the best work days of the year - I have to leave work early because campus wants my parking spot for graduation. YAY! This happens twice a year and let me just tell you - I love it.
2) I found myself so engrossed in House Hunters (the hit HGTV show) that when I realized I couldn't finish it. . . I dvr'ed the rest of the episode so that I could see which house the couple chose. When Greg found out that I dvr'ed a television show that is on approximately 24 hours a day he was kind of incredulous - but he finished watching it - so really it was like the pot calling the kettle black.
3 Our lawn is pretty much prairie grass. We have gone almost two complete weeks without mowing it thanks to scout camp and taking our lawn mower in for a tune up. Seriously - if anyone wants to re-create the scene from the "Sound of Music" where the hills are actually alive - come on over. But be fast - I have a feeling I know what Greg is going to be doing with his afternoon "off".
4) I need a good book to read.
5) We're still looking for an inexpensive (i.e. not costing us $10,000+) way to screen in our porch. Anyone interested in the job? Why can't any of our cousins be general contractors?
6) We saw the movie, "Crazy, Stupid, Love" this weekend. We loved it. That's not to say we recommend it - because there were definitely some crude aspects - but all in all - we would see it again. While we were at the movies we decided that maybe we should just try and go to the movies as much as possible in the next few months before Constantine arrives and ruins our footloose and fancy free lifestyle. Next up - "30 minutes or less" - after all it has Tom from Parks and Rec in it.

I have booked an alfalfa cutting tractor to help us mow the lawn.

Actually, taking a newborn to a movie is quite breezy. Just nurse and nurse and nurse.

I will screen your porch...and I'll do it for only $9,000! Sweet deal, huh?

I hear you about the movies. It gets a little more uncomfortable as C gets bigger and bigger, and then you have to wait 11 years until you can leave the kids at home and go alone. We finally got there...and it was worth the wait! I almost talked Dave into going to the movies last night, just on a whim. I could see a show every single day for the rest of my life. One of these days, I want to see 2 back to back...complete with a gigantic DC, $ tree candy that I sneak in, and popcorn until I burst. It sounds pretty much like heaven to me.

Get your back fence knocked down again and let the cows come eat your grass.

Did you read The Help? I'm reading it now before I see the movie. Although, I have no idea when I'll go to the movies again.

The Help is most definitley an amazing book! I just hope that the movie won't dissapoint. Another good one is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Hope you find some good books! :)

Thanks for both of those book tips - but I've already read both of them. I couldn't put the Help down when I first read it. My cousin just recommended "delirium" - I may have to go for it. And I loved the book thief.

Well, my 2 favorite books ever are The Poisonwood Bible and The Robe. Surely someone as studious as yourself has already read both. Ever heard of The Kite Runner? Kidding. I know you have. Sure did love it though. Ever read I Love You, Ronnie? Letters to Nancy Reagan from her husband. Very sweet.

"Saving CeeCee Honeycutt" is a great book. Are you on Goodreads? I have a whole list of books on there. Sign up and request me as a friend. I love it because I get great recommendations from my friends.

Oh definitely do the movie thing! We miss doing that so much. I could never take a newborn to the movies. Just not me. Lots of people do it and it is just fine though! I hear you about the garden. I will have to mail you a picture of ours. If you can believe it, it is about 10 times worse than yours!

Two of my all time favorite books are actually trilogies: "The Trees," "The Fields," and "The Town," by Conrad Richter. The trilogy is often called, "The Awakening Land." It follows the life of a woman who enters the wilderness of Ohio ("the trees") in the very early days of our country, through her death on the last page of "The Town." I think these are the great American novels. There is a lot of dialect, but Richter did deep research among country people and the dialect is supposed to be extremely authentic.

My other favorite trilogy is "The Deptford Trilogy" by Robertson Davies, a Canadian playright and author. Try reading "Fifth Business" first and if you like it, go on to "The Manticore" and "World of Wonders."

The Art of Racing in the Rain. Told from the perspective of a dog. I don't love dogs. But I loved that book. But I'm going to take your other friends' recommendations!
