1/2 of a marathon and 1/2 of a fish

This weekend I slogged through another 1/2 marathon in Moab. I signed up for it ages ago and when it came time to really train for it I realized that I wanted to do a lot more cross-fitting than running. So I ignored my calendar and did what I wanted. I don't regret that but I must say - this 1/2 was really not that enjoyable. Even the day before I was debating about switching to the 5 miler but I just couldn't do it. So there. Finished. Did my race. I can wear the t-shirt and not feel like a poser.

We left the missionaries to hold down the fort. We came home to find this in our freezer:
When asked about it, one Elder started talking about how he wanted to build a smoker out of cardboard and aluminum and cook it in the backyard. Greg shut that down fast. All I could think was - "oh man - they are stinking up our house as it is and now they want to cook fish too?"

Please someone - invite them over and ask them to bring the fish. Stat!

I promise - my next post will not talk about the missionaries. I promise.

I gave them specific instructions that if they wanted to build their own smoker, they would have to do it off the premises. However, I gave them hope, I told them that our EQP would love to have them come set up a home-make smoker in his kitchen.

Congrats on finishing the half. You should get a 13.5 sticker for your car.

I'm really sad I didn't get to chat with you on Sunday...and to be quite honest, I'm having Monday night Carlklef withdrawals. Seriously though, way to go on the race, especially finishing when you just didn't want to do it. Are you sore? And 1/2 a fish in the freezer? Really? I can almost smell your house from over here. Those poor, sweet elders.

Ooops...AMY not Alexander. :)

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Greg, please tell me that 'EQP' doesn't stand for what I think it does. We don't EAT fish. We don't like to SMELL fish. Period! And I think we'll be leaving town until said fish has been rid of.

Rachel - EQP means exactly what you think it means. I would be expecting a call sometime later this week. They are REALLY excited about setting up a fish smoker at your house. From what I hear, it only takes a few weeks of deep cleaning to get rid of the smell, but totally worth it to have the Elders over.
