dear chicago friends:
Last night when we got home from work (about 8:00 pm - our days are long right now with the commute and errands and blah blah blah but I digress . . . ) we opened up a can of chili (quick recipe - open a can of chili - pour in a pot and heat and serve - voila!) we started talking about how much we were missing our friends right now. Even this morning as I type this I realize this is still a little close to the surface. Don't get us wrong - this was the right move for us but knowing that doesn't take away the fact that we miss not only having friends - but we miss our friends. You know the kind of friends where they become family because no one has family around. Some of our good friends are having a baby and we are so excited for them - they just found out what they are having (it's a ___!) and we wanted more than anything to run over to their house and deliver a bunch of boy appropriate outfits. Instead - we finished eating our chili, watched the tail end of a Meredith Baxter (Birney - but she has divorced so just Baxter now) movie and went to bed. Our new life . . . well we are working on it. So if you are reading this and you live in Chicago or you once lived in Chicago please just know - you are missed by us.

It's a good thing that chili was good because the Meredith Baxter movie was not and missing our friends is suck. On the bright side our condo closing will be on November 10th! Bittersweet . . .
This post is making my eyes all funny, what is this wetness?
And too bad that I missed out on all of the cute boy clothes! Crap. I would have gladly opened my door for you two.
You two act as if Chicago was the whole world and you just fell off of it. Granted, Chicago has Navy Pier and nothing can compete with that, but don't forget about the friends in other cities that you never visit. Some of those other friends are the only ones who can appreciate a blog post about a good Meredith Baxter Birney Lifetime TV movie. That's not something to be ignored.
Toddcat - you make an excellent point. However, the last time we came to visit you - you charged us an exorbitant amount to stay at your "bed and breakfast" (but you didn't even provide us breakfast) and you made us go to some obscure drag queen play of nine-to-five (which we left early - not because it was in bad taste but because it was so amazingly BADLY acted).
Kitty, let's recall that the last (and only) time you have visited me was when you wanted (and got) a free place to stay on your cross country road trip moving from SLC to Chicago when you were sick of camping along the way. You showed up at my house 2 days early and still somehow managed to only stay about 15 hours before you left. And as I recall Ross was giggling so much at the 9 to 5 drag show (you might even say he was tickled pink) that it made you uncomfortable and THAT is the real reason we had to leave. You are just jealous because you were not cast in the role of Dora Lee. Admit it!
awww....we miss you more!
and-- Utah Christmas party in December when we're all there???
