True confessions. About a month and a half ago I got pulled over by the Chicago police for talking on my cell phone while driving. This is embarrassing . . . but the worst/best part was that they took my license away. This meant that I was forced to pay the fine in order to get my license back. Well just the other day I finally received my license back. The best part about this whole thing was definitely not paying the $75 to get my license back, rather the best part was that Ross had to drive on all our past road trips. (I am not a fan of road trips and not really a fan of driving for the fact that when I drive I speed which means tickets which means more expensive insurance). So while Ross was driving me all over the midwest these past two weekends I learned some things about him. These things include:
3) Before this past weekend - Ross was one of the last person's on earth to never have tried dippin' dots (you know, the ice cream of the future). He is now a fan.
4) He thinks that during road trips you should listen to Tom Petty and The Eagles. I say that you should never listen to these so called musicians. Never.
1) Ross thinks that the McGriddle is pure genius (who knew?)
2) He thinks that it is speeding if you drive even two miles over the posted speed limit (this I knew but prefer to forget).

5) He is a wizard at finding things around the house but sometimes he gets so excited about road trips he forgets to pack important things. Things like underwear. GROSS!

It is like Ross is my brother from another mother--although I learned my lesson years ago about packing enough underwear for trips. (Remind me not to tell you the 6th grade camping trip story about that one.)
I think Tom Petty and the Eagles are excellent road trip tunes. However, I also think it's important to listen to at least one Willie Nelson song, at the beginning or end of each trip. My personal favorite is "Midnight Rider" but "Blue Skies" or "On the Road Again" will do in a pinch.
I have never tried dippin dots.
I have never had a McGriddle--but I'm sure their awesome because McDonald's breakfast is #1.
The only thing I have to disagree with is that 2 mph over the speed limit is "speeding." Come on, Ross. We all know that the police give you at least a 5 mph (it's closer to 10 mph in Alabama) cushion, unless you're in a school zone. You can't be speeding unless you exceed that cushion.
P.S. Um, KTC, I did not know you lost your license. That's the kind of thing that friend's tell each other. I'll try not to read too much into that, but it's a little hard.
Abby,
Don't fret--I really didn't tell many people about the license. I was too ashamed and confused.
Well I must admit that Ross and I have similar feelings about speeding, even when traveling cross country. I guess we are the only righteous ones.
The thing I learn from this blog posting is that Kitty is a criminal and Ross, by being married to her, is an accomplice. He is aiding and abetting her by being her chauffer. Now that she has her license back I think Kitty should do all the driving on a road trip. It's the only way she will learn.
