Excel Nerds of the World Unite!!!

I am a self-proclaimed Excel nerd. I really get excited about learning new tricks and tools in the program. Because I am actually teaching Excel classes these days, I am learning a lot which makes me very happy. The latest addition to my Excel repertoire is a devistatingly awesome type of chart (shown on the left). It is called a “waterfall” chart and I impressed my boss today by figuring out how to do it. It’s pretty tricky, but with a ghost series, it can be done. You may be thinking, so what, I can do that – but it’s not one of the standard chart types. Go ahead try and find it.

To further prove my nerdery (or maybe geekdom) I recently ordered a book called Beginning Excel What-If Data Analysis Tools: Getting Started With Goal-Seek, Data Tables, Scenarios, and Solver. Only 50 cents on Amazon!

I pretty much look for any excuse to use Excel – whether it is to keep track of gas mileage or to do some number crunching. If only I could figure out a way to journal using Excel . . .

Oh dear...I thought my love of filling out forms on clipboards was bad, but it's nothing compared with this.

I feel bad for Ross as well. But you know--embrace your nerdery. So I guess we know this about Ross: (1) he loves excel and (2) he loves church. I guess what they say is true--opposites do attract.

I only know the very basics of Excel, but I have to admit that I wish I knew more. It is a pretty cool program. Maybe you could give me a lesson when you are here in Nov. Are you still doing your gas mileage chart? Greg, you are one of a kind!

Continuing on things Ross loves...(3)Sandwiches

Ross, I would be impressed if you posted a blog that included a pie chart, but it has to be entertaining info. I don't want to see some lame pie chart with completely useless info. Why don't you start charting the frequency of A-list celebrities on Murder She Wrote?

Silly Todd--you wouldn't use a pie chart to graph frequency. Maybe I should start teaching a class.

Wow---Ross it is like I can hear you saying that in your super nerdy Simpsons voice.
