13's in 2013 . . . check in (4-7)

In January I get all excited about New Year's Resolutions - really the opportunity to propel myself forward to being better . . . and then the excitement dies down. Winter kicks in. And by the time spring peeps in (slowly - so so so so slowly this year) it's over. I've forgotten and now we have to do yard work.

Well . . . in an attempt to keep myself accountable - all year - I am doing a quarterly blog check in to report how all our 13's in 2013 are going. Here are the results:

13 blog posts a month - so far. so good. Although April is going to be tricky. I got behind and now I'm scrambling around for content. (See this blog post for proof).

13 friend outings- (3/13) my goal is to reconnect with and stay in contact with friends that I don't get to see as often. Some of those friends live far away - some live close and we still don't get to see each other. But these past few months I've been able to see some *great* people. So I've seen three - only ten more to go. Who will it be?  Who knows. But really Alicia, Paul, and Kristal - I'm so lucky to have you for friends. If we are being honest, these three visits were probably the highlight of the past few months.

13 parties/ couple dates - (2/13) I did host a Favorite Things Party - and it was pretty great. We played dice-capades with a couple last week. And I'm counting it. Really, the goal is to just encourage me and Greg to make friends. We're slow like that.

13 hikes - (1/13) (Zion). But it's getting warmer - so we're getting hopeful. If we have to Hike the Y 12 times to satisfy this goal - we'll do it. I am dedicated to the idea to helping Henry love the outdoors. Which means we have to do outdoor things.

13 bike rides with Henry - (0/13) FAIL. Greg also has the goal to ride his bike to work at least 13 times. So far we are at zero on that one too. But the weather!

13 craft projects (knitting and finishing) (0/13)- I have a list of projects and so far - I haven't finished any of them. So . . . FAIL.

13 service projects - (1/13) (I took dinner in to a friend). Does anyone want me to bring them dinner? I'll do it. I don't really know how to do service unless it involves bringing someone food. So there you go. Maybe I'll just start identifying people on the street and dropping off some quinoa. I'm sure that would go over well.

13 temple visits - (1/13). I need to either take long lunches or wake up early early early early. Both of these things I'm crappy at.

13 13's in 2013 - (0/13). But you know - I've got my running coach, I ran 8 miles on Saturday. I totally think this one can still happen.

13 lbs to lose - I haven't really been losing but I also haven't been gaining - so I'll take it. For now.

4 sets of 13 books to read - (23/52) SUCCESS! So far I've read 23 books this year. I'm kind of amazed by that. What this means is that I have been listening to books while fast-paced trotting, walking to and fro, and while cleaning. And yes, Toddcat, listening to books counts as reading them. Don't you dare try and say otherwise.

13 house projects to finish (2/13) - some counter tops and some caulking. I'm going to count yard projects in this and hopefully it will add some excitement/motivation.

So . . . I have some work to do. Crap. This post was meant to inspire me - now I just feel a little overwhelmed. Oh well . . . nothing happens if we just sit here and hope for it to happen. In the words of my Dad - now is the time to "keep on keepin' on".

krissi, you constantly amaze me in all the goals you continue to set for yourself. I think you need to put down there...13 goals to try and get Henry to walk. He is doing it because you and Greg keep encouraging him. So so so cute.

If we come visit this summer, will you get to count all five of us as friends you are reconnecting with? Do I get points for an "assist" if we help you score on this goal? You know, for those of us who are less goal oriented (because we're kind of just overwhelmed with basic survival issues)...we kind of crave vicarious success. Go kitty!
