2013 - begins - finally (2-1)

Greg and I have decided to pretend that January never happened. January? What January? And since there is no record of anything happening on the blog - it's pretty easy to just wipe that month off the books and move on. So . . moving on.

Drumroll please . . . introducing . . . our 2013 goals!

I loved, loved, loved tracking my goals last year and then reporting them (as if the readership on this blog were investors looking for a quarterly/weekly report). I've thought a lot about this struggling little blog of ours and what it's for and really - it's for us. So we're going to keep going on with it -even if blogs are passe. Let's face it - I love the instant gratification from clever quips on facebook or instagram (@kittyesquire - see I can't stop myself!) but really - the blog can be turned into a book that makes it seem like we have some sort of family history going - and we like it. So we're going to make it happen.

So . . . we have thought long and hard about what to do for 2013. I love setting goals and making resolutions. Only because it is so important to feel like I'm moving forward, improving things, changing, growing - even if, in reality, we are kind of standing still. We've decided to work with 13 and the term "finish" - there are just a ton of things that we need to simply "finish".  Anyway - here goes:

Run 13 - 13's in 2013 (these don't all have to be "official" races or anything)
Go to the temple 13 times (at least - I'm not limiting myself to these things but 13 is a good hard number)
Read at least 13 x 4 books (ha! that makes 52)
Accomplish 13 projects around the house
Perform 13 acts of service (sincere service)
Finish 13 craft projects (holy cannoli I have a lot of crap crafts around the house that need to be finished!)
13 blog posts a month (yep, that's right - be prepared for pictures of Henry, Henry, and more Henry)
Lose 13 lb's (and not the same ones over and over and over)
Go hiking/biking at least 13 times

Oy vey - this looks overwhelming. I guess it kind of is. But really we have a google spreadsheet to help us track it - so um we're off. Sure, we are a little behind seeing that January didn't even happen - but we're on it. And really - if we don't reach all our goals - that's okay - we just don't want to be here in February 2014 saying, "um what did we do last year?"

  1. I approve of this message. I will commit to 13x2 = 26 books for 2013 and to riding my bike to work at least 13 times. I will come up with some more 13s.

  2. Shouldn't you have 13 resolutions? I would like you commit to ordering a baker's dozen of something at 13 different places. You cold start by getting maple bacons to feed 13 of your Aprils. You'll probably need to hire more Aprils to make this work, but it would totally be worth it.

  3. I'm an April! Do I get some maple bacon (whatevers)?

  4. Toddcat - I could order a baker's dozen at 13 different places. In fact, I just did that when I brought in Valentine's treats for the Aprils yesterday. I'm all over this business. All over it.
