39 books down - but I must admit - with it being Fall semester I'm a little concerned about making sure I reach at least 52. Oh fall semester - I have such a love/hate relationship with you. Hate because it's Labor day and I'm working - love because what I do is (for the most part) actually a lot of fun. I digress.
I kind of knocked it out of the park this month with good books. For reals. I mean reading Harlan Coben's Long Lost was like sucking on a lollipop - absolutely no nutritional value but just a lot of fun. (For the record this was not my favorite Harlan Coben book and I wouldn't recommend it - but still - I don't regret reading it).
Dear authors of Freakonomics,
I think you are overrated and take yourself too seriously. I am happy to be one of the millions that have read your book - but I definitely won't be reading a follow-up or anything. I think you tried to hard to make yourself sound clever.
Dear author of Quiet (Susan Cain),
I LOVED your book. LOVED it. All of the sudden I feel much prouder about my introverted status. I also now understand why it is easier for me to disclose and make public announcements on the internet as opposed to participating live in the Relief Society good news minute. I will continue recommending this to everyone I know.
Dear author of Caleb's Crossing (Geraldine Brooks),
You write beautifully. I feel smarter for having read your historical fiction novel about the first Native American graduate of Harvard. I'll continue to read your books - but slowly.

I'm not doing very well on getting my books read but can I count watching the DVD "Hunger Games"? It is just like listening to a tape but you see the picture. Please let me count it!
You GO, Kitty!
I am an extrovert and I hate RS Good News Minute. It should just be struck from the record.
I'm glad you finally read some books you liked, even loved. I have no doubt that you can reach your goal, especially if BYU Food Services finally wises up and starts selling caffeinated beverages. Such convenient accessibility to the good stuff will surely give you the mojo you need to keep going strong. (Besides, BYU, who are we kidding here? Every caffeine drinker goes down the street to Crest during breaks to get their fix.)
But I highly object to the idea of you being an introvert. I just don't think you are.
Your reading (and others as well) is so amazing to me. I can't imagine reading that much and I love to read. I do. These sound good. I just might have to check a couple of these ones out from the library. Thanks. And good luck . . . I think you totally will get 52.
