This was not a banner month when it came to my reading. I'm still on pace for my goal (at least 52 books this year) but I'm rapidly losing my cushion. The month of June was b-u-s-y and it doesn't help when I just didn't fall in love with any of the books I was reading. But here goes:
The Confession - John Grisham - * - oh John Grisham . . . you are so full of yourself. This book is so heavy handed and over the top that when I finished it I thought . . .it's going to be awhile before I read another of his books.
The No Brainer Wardrobe - Hayley Morgan - *1/2 - This book has been mentioned on several blogs as a "helpful must" when figuring out how to organize your closet, shop, and put outfits together. I'm always trying to dress better so I thought this would be a good one. Nope. It was just okay. There were a few helpful tips but it wasn't as practical as I wanted it to be. I guess what I want is someone to tell me exactly what I need, exactly what to wear, and exactly what looks good on me - and then put it all together for me. And then when I go out everyone will say, "Whoa - you are a great dresser." Aaaah - a girl can dream.
What the Dog Saw and Other Adventures - Malcolm Gladwell - **1/2. This is a collection of Malcolm Gladwell's articles for the New Yorker. There were some really interesting stories and there were some slow ones.
See . . . I didn't read anything really riveting. But July - I'm picking up my pace - 28 books down.

1. I used to love Grisham books in high school...because I read the really popular ones that everyone's familiar with...so I've read seven - YES, SEVEN! - of his books so far this year, trying to find one I loved just as much. Nope. I just don't like lawyers anymore. :)
2. Are you a "What Not to Wear" fan? I don't think you need it AT ALL but, if you like, I will nominate you for the show...they are expert 'bossies' for clothes. :) Plus, we'd both get to be on TV!
Quote from Lisa whilst I read this post out loud: "These posts are like a anti-literacy campaign, proving that reading is highly overrated." Just had to post that b/c I can't stop laughing.
Steve you tell L-Nic that I fear that Phoebe will never develop any reading skills with an attitude like that.
KT, first I'd like to point out that I said "an" anti-literacy campaign, not "a" anti-literacy campaign. Silly tablet typos.
Second, are you really trying to tell me that TV + closed captioning is an inferior strategy to books? Phoebe can also develop multiple language skills depending on the closed captioning we select. Can Henry read French or Spanish yet? I don't think so.
Kitty, I hear your subtle hint loud and clear. Send me your credit card number and I'll do all your clothes shopping from now on.
