true confessions

It is July 13, 2011 and we have not yet turned on the air conditioner for the summer. By "we" I guess I mean me. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it isn't hot . . . but here is my reasoning:

     a) We are out of our house by 8:00 am every morning and don't return until (usually) at least 6:00 pm. By  then, the hottest part of the day is over. By then . . . what's the point?
     b) Oh wait, you ask, what about the missionaries? Well, sure those missionaries have a different schedule but my theory is - they aren't supposed to just be hanging around the house anyway during the day - what better way to help them get to work then by not making it cool and comfortable in the house? See, I'm just trying to be helpful.
     c) They haven't complained about it yet.
     d) Just because we have on the air conditioning I guarantee that they will continue to leave every window open possible upstairs.
     e) We haven't really had any parties this summer - if we have parties then Greg wins and we turn on the air (I don't like to be ridiculous in front of guests).

Besides, think of all the money we are saving! We'll have that taj mahal porch screened in - in no time!

I know it's ridiculous. I kept telling Greg that we just needed to wait until after San Diego. Now, I really don't have an excuse - maybe just wait until the missionaries move out? But really, doesn't anyone think that it's awesome that we have held out for so long? I do, even if I am kind of embarrassed about it.

our air conditioning pretty much has been running 24/7 since..March 1. I am jealous, I would like to be saving all that money too. I say good for you. You are just giving the missionaries the kind of experience that they would have in a third world place where there is no ac. But with nice clean showers.

I think your reasoning makes perfect sense. With the money saved, you can buy Greg a few more man aprons, in different patterns and colors.

Party tonight 6:00. Bring drinks.

Kitty, I thought pregnant women were always hot and cranking the a/c. This makes me winder if you are faking the whole pregnancy just to evict those poor missionaries who want nothing more from you than a safe place to sleep while they do God's work.

SERIOUSLY? I had the same thought as Todd--shouldn't you be having night sweats? If I told you what our AC bill was you'd die of shock and indignation, so you're clearly a better example of frgality than me, but I gotta tell you, I'm nice and cool.

Don't be embarrassed about the AC! My parents still don't even have one...that's right modern America no AC-gasp! (and no they're not poor.) I turned out fine...I think? Plus you eat less when you're hot. It's a win win!
