taboo

Last night I got sucked into watching a show on National Geographic. This show was much more than watching animals in Africa  - instead it focused on people that have weird sort of obsessions and/or lives. I was so fascinated . . .  you can bet I set that dvr to record the whole series.

So yesterday I learned about this 29 year old man, Stanley, that likes to live as if he is an infant. He is an accomplished handy-man (go figure) and thus has built himself a crib to sleep in, a playpen, and even an adult sized high chair where his nurse/mother-figure will bring him his food.
He also LOVES LOVES LOVES to play with legos while in his playpen.

I know that watching this show is akin to gawking at an accident - but there is part of me that is so fascinated with this type of stuff. I know I'm not the only one - that doesn't mean I'm proud of my fascination but I also have decided that I shouldn't be embarrassed about it. And trust me, this show was more educational than Real Housewives (kind of) and since we no longer get Bravo I have to feed my fascination elsewhere.

I know someone else who loves to play with Legos. I fear Legos are a gateway toy to this kind of lifestyle.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Holy cow. And I do see Todd's concern...

I don't like to "play" legos, I like to construct or build using legos. It is more like a gateway to being an architect.

I think I watched this show once, and it really freaked me out. There was a girl who ate the stuffing out of couch cushions, and a girl who ate toilet paper, and a girl who slept with her blowdryer ON in her bed. It really, really freaked me out.

oh wait. i think it was a weird addiction show, not taboo. but still super weird.

Ross, you just explained the difference between six and a half dozen. Your defensiveness only tels me you are in complete denial of the problem. You should get on this show and then the next week we can surprise you on a trilling episode of Intervention.

Oh, for Pete's SAKE! I don't think I get this channel. Can it be witnessed online? This looks like some seriously INTERESTING stuff. Just my kind of show. Wow...a giant high chair and footed pj's. Wow.

I really, truly want/need to watch this show. We might need to up our cable package. Perhaps they should have an episode about people who watch these shows??

At least your train wreck viewing hasn't included The Rock of Love.
