the month of l*o*v*e

As awesome as that smitten is - it's time for a new blog post. Here is what is happening:

1. It looks like I caught emphysema from this episode of three years ago:
I know - this is a picture that no mother wants to see (sorry mom) - but just as a reminder - they are candy cigarettes.
Apparently these candy cigarettes can turn into a problem because I have a cough that seriously sounds like I have emphysema. I've had it for two weeks now which is why I am declaring it a chronic condition.

2. My infamous April showed up to work without a belt - he looked ridiculous:

3. We made some homemade Valentine's Day decorations. I can't say if I like it or if it looks like it was straight out of the 70's.

4. I am planning on making a new LOVE cd (at the request of the Toddcat) - does anyone have any suggestions of some fantastic-o love songs? p.s. I love when people make these sort of requests on facebook and on their blog and then there is like one comment - don't embarrass me people - don't!

At least you didn't post the pictures of us drinking Coke out of a paper bag on campus and eating meat in the summer. Phew.

Also, I would say that I have a few ideas for the CD - the first of which should be our song: This Never Happened Before by Sir Paul McCartney.

Sir Paul does know a good love song. I just wanted to throw this question out there because you know how I get in a musical rut - there are only so many times that I can put the Pete Townsend song, "Let My Love Open the Door" on a cd and make it sound fresh.

I kid! I still listen to your love mixes. And speaking of Sir Paul, I've long loved Here There and Everywhere. And ever since watching Ghost Town (which you know I love), I love John Mayer's Heart of Life.

(That comment was me trying to fit the word "love" in as many times as I could muster. Success.)

OK...so maybe "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds and we are LOVING "We Belong Together" from Toy Story 3. Not totally romantic, but whatever. How about "Make you feel my love" by Adele (I'm done with capitalizing titles - taking too long), how about some Chicago/Peter Cetera?, listen to "Chances are" by Robert Downey form Ally McBeal - a great one, "Falling slowly" from the movie Once. Just hoping that by giving some pretty fabulous recommendations, I might score a copy. Totally selfish. :)

Oooo...Book of Love by Peter Gabriel. FABULOUS.

Alright...so I'm taking your request too seriously...but how about "Love you forever" and "I will" by Alison Krausse?

Serious blog stalking freak here...those 2 previous titles are he same song. Oops. "When you say nothing at all".

I would like to suggest Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty-of course. It's my absolute favorite!!!

Ok - it's official we are cousins, do you even remember me? I just made my favorite list on I-tunes. Here are a few Kassidy and I like...

Just The Way You Are-Bruno Mars
I Never Told You-Colbie Caillat
Haven't Met You Yet-Michael Buble
Love Remains The Same-Gavin Rosdale

and our new favorite from the movie Country Strong is:
Give In To Me-Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester

I also am hoping for your CD...

Kitty,

1) I don’t think it is “smoking” candy cigarettes that appalls your mom, but your flagrant consumption of empty calories. For the record, I didn’t inhale or swallow. If only they would make a diet candy cigarette so that we could look sophisticated without the guilt.

2) Between the Dankos and the lack of belts in that office I feel like I need to request an intervention by TLCs What Not to Wear.

3) Those decorations make me sad. Why don’t you have your Aprils make some decorations like you did at Halloween?

4) I do love a good mixed tape and my last Kitty produced mixed tape (CD) is starting to skip on the songs I like the most. For this new mixed tape I feel it is only appropriate that I request the song “Mix Tape” from the hit Broadway musical “Avenue Q”. If you like Muppets and dirty jokes you’ll love this show. (Disclaimer: I have not actually seen Avenue Q, but I am reviewing it based on what I assume to be true.) I also recommend L-O-V-E by Joss Stone. And like Dream a Little Dream of Me. You have put this on a previous mixed tape, but it was in French and I can only sing along in English.

PS- I am still waiting to receive my promised knitted goods. I will hence forth be mentioning this in every blog comment until said goods are received.

I think you should include Justin Timberlake's song "My Love" on your next Valentine's Day mix tape because nothing is more romantic than dating someone "on the regular". Another bonus is that this track doesn't make me want to vomit like most love songs.

P.S. Are the pipe cleaners that you used for your home decorations ripped off...er...I mean left over from your Primary bulletin board?

For whatever reason, I can't even begin to think of one good love song. Funny.

But I was here. And entertained. And really hoping your emphysema clears up fast.

I just had a flashback of when I was a kid and my sister and I would 'smoke' our crayons. I think we needed a good FHE after that but we never got one. :)
um...Open Arms, Journey; anything Michael Buble; Just to Be the Next to Be With You, Mr. Big; Come Home, Sara Bareilles and OneRepublic. I'm sure a million more will pop into my mind at 3 a.m., at which time I'll make sure I'll call you immediately. :)

P.S. I'm aware that Michael Buble does not have a song titled 'Anything' and, no, I'm not referring to 'Everything' but I think that any song by him makes a pretty darn good love song.

Your mixed tape should include Stuck on You by Sugarland.

BTW, I am still waiting to receive my promised knitted goods.

emlizalmo said...

This is some serious good stuff. That Sugarland song is oretty great, so is Mr. Big. I was going to recommend the same one as Rachel, but wondered if it showed a little too much of my ballad loving side. :) Hey, I'll just make you a mix tape for your mix tape.

How 'bout that one song "Marry Me"? I don't know who sings it - some guy, or if that is really the title...but it makes me melt. Also..."I Just Haven't Met You Yet".

How sad that these are my love songs! ...but I do love them :o)

You Want to Make a Memory, Bon Jovi. Love Song, 311. Lucky, Jason Mraz and Colbie Calait. I'd Rather Be with You & What If You, Joshua Radin. Marry You, Bruno Mars.
Just had to chime in. ;)

"Forever" by Ben Harper. One of my all time favorite loves songs. And "Something in the Way She Moves" by James Taylor.

P.S. Nothing wrong with a little "Let My Love Open the Door." It always sounds fresh on your mix tapes.
