The Carlklef House is pretty much the MTC - what with us having missionaries for roommates. I think it is safe to say that it is going to take some getting used to - but we have learned a few things (mainly about ourselves):
1) I'm selfish. I had to tell the fresh-faced elders that they couldn't use our brand spankin' new treadmill. I told them that I was just not ready to share it yet. Or ever (but I just thought that part in my head).
2) I'm awkward. I don't think I need to expand on this part - it's just my normal self.
3) I have weird pet peeves. Case in point - as part of our rules we gave them I told them that if they ever use the bathroom off of the kitchen they need to make sure and put the toilet seat AND cover DOWN. Yes - and cover. Who wants those germs floating up when you flush? Not me. (I trained Ross on this years ago).
4) They'll eat anything. Burn some cupcakes? Give them to the missionaries - they'll eat them. Have some stale crackers you want to get rid of? Give them to the missionaries. Old candy? Fruit cake? Crumbs? They'll eat it. It's like having a real-life garbage disposal.
So far one of the best things about this whole set-up is that we get to find out who serves the best dinners in our neighborhood - that way we can start lobbying for invitations. So far it's a tie between a couple of houses . . .

I notice you forgot to mention how the missionaries BEGGED you to turn the heat up in that walk-in freezer you call a house.
I can't believe you are letting them go to dinner at all your neighbors' homes. You know they are going to trash talk about you to the neighbors you are desperately trying to fit in with.
Oh brother - you wouldn't know how cold it is since you never come to visit. Our house is a delightful temperature. All the time.
The missionaries don't trash talk us - we give them a free room and board!
wow, So are they living upstairs? You don't feed them too do you? They have their own pantry..or labeled items in the refrigerator. This is crazy. I mean it is like having children.
And all the stale scraps then can eat. Don't forget about that perk you provide.
I kind of still can't believe you guys are doing this. Joking aside...I think it is really cool, and really kind. I saw that you even have to give them rides to church. They're sweet and all, but you are giving up a bit of freedom. Anyway...you're nice. Blessings. It's all about the blessings. :)
Who makes the best meals? It's the Anderton's isn't it? Dang it! I've got to plan something fabulous and have them over.
I'm pretty sure you are going to be translated. And I totally agree about the seat cover.
