love is in the air

Greg and I work at a university where a lot of life is pretty much centered around dating . . .  or the lack thereof. Just Monday there was a front page article about what to do if you graduate from college gasp! SINGLE gasp! So I decided that as we lead up to Valentine's Day this year I wanted to make sure that while walking around on campus everyone knows that we are together. You know, that our love knows no bounds - even when and if it is negative a jillion degrees outside we are going to hold hands and shout it from the rooftops!

This smitten makes all that possible:

This morning was our first morning of trying it out. And sure, we felt a little stupid, but I think there were a lot of envious eyes checking out our love while walking into work. At least that is what I'm telling myself.

And don't worry - I've done my best to talk it up with the Rosscat so we don't have a repeat of this FAIL!

Hmm. I'm not sure what is more concerning--the fact that you spent time knitting the smitten (love the name, btw) or actually wore the smitten out in public?

Maybe you should make a smitten for the missionaries. They have to be out in the cold everyday (or in it with your low thermostat setting) and are always together. I think they could get a lot of use out of a nice smitten.

Hey Kris Tina - 'smitten' is awesome! I love it. I know a guy who could help you get that where it should be - in the homes of millions of consumers!!

The smitten looks very difficult to get on and off. Does it require a third party? Do the missionaries help you? Todd's right--if you make one for them, then they really will be a lot warmer. What if you make them two? They could walk facing each other, both hands clasped together, warm as a Hawaii beach.

Sometime I can't believe the stuff I am willing to do for love.

Lindy, I like the way you think. I would like to see a picture of the missionaries utilizing 2 smittens while walking sideways (or doing the tango) on the treadmill. Now THAT would be the ultimate Valentine's Day blog post!!

I don't know what to say. I think that MIGHT ACTUALLY be a hit on BYU campus. Maybe you should knit a 'K' and 'G' inside a heart...just to rub it in a little more.

Oh, heaven help me. This is SO freakimg awesome. Though, I'd love to see a picture from farther away as proof that Greg loves you enough to walk around BYU conjoined at the hands.

Oh yeah, you've got the right idea there, Todd.

we have smittens and only used them once - our hands were beyond clammy and it started to feel gross after a while...

i love how dramatic the daily universe can be - single after graduation.... CMON!

Could you make a a breathable version of the smitten for a tropical climate? Maybe out of fish netting or something. That was netting, not FISHNETS!

My renter likes to sneak up on me. Do your missionaries do that?

This is the coolest/funniest thing I have seen in a long time. Did you name it that? I have never had a desire to knit...until now.

Love, Your adoring Cousin
