When agreeing to meet up, I erroneously thought that Reno is about halfway from Provo and San Francisco. I should have looked at a map - it's actually, practically San Francisco.
Here are the details:
1) Went to Barenaked Ladies concert (awesome awesome awesome people watching)
2) Hit a buffet ($9.99 was too much for the food that was served)
3) Checked out Lake Tahoe - gorgeous!
4) Packed too much (of course)
5) There is a place called "Kit Kat Ranch" - disgusting!
6) There is also a candy shop called "The Chocolate Nugget" - that too, was disgusting.
7) Arrived home at 3:00 am Sunday morning
8) Listened to a book on tape - after all that work we heard the ending and we both just looked at each other . . . that was it? (I don't recommend it - "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro).
P.S. Are you impressed that I am blogging about this AFTER the trip - that way no burglars can read this blog and think that our home is empty because it's not - we're back. I'm so clever.

Whirlwind tour of Reno was awesome. Also don't google Kit Kat Ranch. Just trust me on that one.
A couple of things KT didn't include: Hysterical fan of BNL screaming at the top of her lungs after the concert until the roadies gave her drumsticks and a set list which just set her off even more. Also Lake Tahoe - WOW.
Sometimes the great trips are lightning fast.
I wish you would have gone dressed as the cops from Reno 911. Everyone would have been really impressed. Despite your warning, I googled Kit Kat Ranch expecting to find a site all about delicious chocolate covered wafers. After what I just saw I don't think I will ever look at a Kit Kat bar the same way again.
Lake Tahoe sounds amazing, but it always makes me think of The Godfather and how the dim-witted brother got whacked in the fishing boat.
I too wish I could see you guys Reno 911-ified. I really love Kit Kats, so I'm distressed by the information on the Kit Kat Ranch. Will I ever be able to order a Kit Kat Blizzard again?
You guys are such weekend get-a-way-ers.
I could have told you that Reno is definitely not halfway. I've made the trip through Reno many, many times in my life going back and forth between Utah and California. Yes, Lake Tahoe is gorgeous! I don't think I've ever stayed in Reno on purpose before. It is usually just a pit stop on the way. My Dad's favorite thing was to stop at Harrah's for the breakfast buffet.
Lindy, I imagine the ranch offers a plethora of Kit Kat treats, but I don't think any of them will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Reno really isn't half way. Sorry about that. From Utah it is like wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and then not being allowed into the promised land of CA.
But I hope it was worth the pain of driving and wasting your time listening to unfulfilling literature.
Me and my lady friend had a great time.
ToddCat--if I'm never able to eat a Kit Kat again, I fear I'll be forced to place the blame on you.
