For some reason on the way to work this morning Greg and I decided that we needed to stop and have some breakfast. A breakfast of champions (don't worry this was paid for via the coin purse so it doesn't even count in the budget - that's for Toddcat's information - everyone else, I'm sure, doesn't care). This is what we picked up:
This is not allowed once we start "The Game" so we figured we better get our drink on while the going is good.
On a sidenote, I busted on the Vita-Mix - ground up some wheat (courtesy of Kevin and Shashie for Christmas) and decided to become Holly Homemaker and bake some bread. This is the first time in my life I have ever done such a thing . . . and it shows:
I blame the yeast. Does anyone have any suggestions on it? I'll take anything - because seriously - flat bread = non-delicious.
And finally - I am starting to think that Dansko's can be fashionable. After all, check out these amazing professional looking Croc's. Sign me up.
And by sign me up - I still say that Croc's are only good for gardening and house-shoes. But this way I could be fashionable - in the garden and around the house. Fabulous. And of course, the Dankso's are appropriate for all things fashionable. All things. Although I am listening to the results of the poll and trying not to wear them constantly - I'm weaning myself from them. Slowly.

Oh Kitty, I thought the results of the poll would have put this to rest, but clearly I was wrong. Danskos are equal to Crocs and therefore inapporpriate for public wear. Gardening or house shoes I'll allow, but only if you do not have guests that will see that sadness of your footwear.
That bread is going to make some delicious sandwiches!! When it's flat you just call it focacia.
The bread was actually delicious, if a little flat. I was a little surprised when KT wanted to stop in at the local Chevron - even more surprised when the clerk greeted with a "Hey Kitty - your usual?" I had no idea.
So when does the game start?
She is a closet Chevron patron. I knew it. I think that Crocs need to give up, and just make those ugly clogs. I just can't get into foam high heels and dressy flats.
Here's the thing--Crocs and Danskos are both unfashionable. I would wear them both if comfort merited it. I have been wearing some winter Merrel shoes/slippers for months because if I don't wear supportive shoes I get a sore back (thanks children for throwing me all our of alignment whilst I carried you). I know my shoes are not cute in any way, and yet I wear them. Sometimes knowing just isn't enough.
I wear my Danskos all the time. I think I have given up. Comfort is key.
I make four loaves of bread at least every week.
Here are my tricks for any whole wheat recipe:
Take 1/4 of the water that the recipe calls for. Put it in big bowl (I use the big liquid measuring cup) and add the called for yeast. Then add the sugar that the recipe calls for. It is usually honey. Set it aside.
If this murky mixture is all smelly and foamy in 5 minutes then your yeast and water temperature were good and you know it will work. That way you know BEFORE you spend all that time on making the bread.
If you want more tips I have them. I have been on a kick lately.
Lindy is, once again, dead right! Wearing Crocs, Danskos, and probably those Merrels is the modern day version to elderly nurses wearing orthopedic shoes. If you want to say to the world "hey, I might not be cool, but at least I'm comfortable" then by all means, wear them with pride.
Dear Toddcat,
I need some new summer sandals.
They need to fit in at the park, Disneyland, the grocery store, lunch with friends, the mall AND dinner out with my husband.
I am having a hard time. Please help me. This is all I have come up with so far.
