an unmerry december (for only a few)

I know I have said this before - but I will say it again - I hate giving out grades. Mainly because this is when I have to be rigid and say "sorry, but actually that doesn't count towards anything because according to the syllabus . . . " Seriously, if you are not getting an "A" in my class it is because you decided to work hard to not get one. So I'm flunking a few, doling out some D- and then I send them an email saying "Your grade is an E (which is an F)" it just seems wrong to close this email with a "Merry Christmas!"

But I'm sure I'll forget about all this once my 12 day vacation of no work begins. Sweetness.

I'm sorry. It's their own fault though. I seriously can't believe a BYU student would fail--it is so rigorous to get in in the first place and then to fail? Weird.

It really makes you wonder why they are even in school and paying that kind of money to receive an E. Just say to them, I am so sorry, but ......They should get it.
