Check out what we had for dinner last night.
That's right - we boiled some delicious beets. While Dwight Schrute has not served as an example in fashion wear (short sleeved dress shirts - absolutely not) - he has encouraged us to develop a taste for beets. Sure they don't look that delicious - but they were (and don't worry - we peeled them before we ate them).

Um...wow...you guys are really living it up for your August of Awesome. It's going to be hard to top this one for delicious excitement.
Obviously Todd has not tasted these garden-fresh beets. They are awesome! We will need to post an update of our August of Awesome soon.
Oh, thanks for the shout out!!
Oh my gooness - I love beets!! They are so yummy.
Did you grow them on your own farm in the back? I hear cows make great fertilizers.
These beauties were grown in the rich soil of my dad's PG house. Not just for strawberries anymore . . .
Just wait till next year. KT attended a square-foot gardening class today is is ready to rock.
I thought BEEF was "what's for dinner!". Actually I'm a huge fan of beets, maybe I'll sneak into your dad's backyard and acquire a few the next time I'm in PG.
I checked the book Square Foot Gardening out at the library last week. The gist of this book is to cram in as many plants as will grow in each square foot of garden space. I think you and all of your loyal blog readers should have a garden challenge to see who can grow the finest crop. Everyone will submit photos of their prized produce and you can post it on the blog with voting buttons to see who wins the blue ribbon. It will be like the first ever on-line county fair. You could even include livestock, but I'm not sure you would have any competition since you are the only one's living on a farm.
Beets? Oh brother. Next thing I know you're going to be raving about Rocky Mountain Oysters.
toddcat- that's a great idea - nothing like a little competition to motivate the carlklef's.
And Lindy - oh please Rocky Mountain oysters? I don't think so.
I having the sheep shipped in next week. They will be providing wool and keeping our weeds and grass neat and trimmed. Then, next spring, the oysters.
Uh huh. I knew it.
