So today when I was running a team-building activity (I love my job), I got a song in my head from my childhood. This is a song that has stuck with me for some reason when I think of teamwork, I think of this Reading Rainbow episode where Lavar does some AWESOME dancing. Caution, this was filmed in 1984, so be prepared for the dancing. I would really love it if for the season opener of SYTYCD, they recreated this production. I can't believe that this found its way to YouTube. In any case, enjoy:
Did I tell you or what? I'm going to be singing that song all day . . .

It's really too bad this show is being canceled.
Wow..Wow.. Greg, I wish I was there to see you sing this all day. Poor KTC!
I totally remember this!! When all the other families were singing "When We're Helping We're Happy", this is the song our family would break into when we worked together. It is, in a word, awesome.
Kitty, I think that was a movie trailer for the remake of Fame, opening in a theater near you on September 25th.
Ross, that was luxurious! Thanks for sharing.
Dance Geordi, DANCE!
What a blast from the past! Yes, I TOTALLY remember this. It was one of my favorite episodes of Reading Rainbow. Can your next video clip be from "Somewhere in Time" when Jane Seymore is screaming, "Richard!" with an outstretched hand? I'm sure you could find a way to work that into a team-building activity if need be. I mean, who couldn't?
I thought it would help things a lot if I watched this video as I begin my work day to get the morning going. Shortly after watching it I realized that 95% of my job is performed by a team of 1. Thus, the "Teamwork" song ringing in my head is now just a painful reminder of how I miss having co-workers. It makes me think fondly of the old days when Kitty and I were young professionals learning the ropes at PRA, separated by noting more than a 4 foot high, burlap upholstered cube wall. Now we sit separated by hundreds of miles and some state borders. Our friendship is hanging on by a thread…a thread woven out of our mutual love for on-line scrabble and reruns of Murder, She Wrote.
Don't you fret Toddcat - although we really weren't even friends at PRA because you thought you were too cool for me. Everything has changed now that you have been introduced and blessed by my awesomeness. We need to schedule a vacation. STAT.
Kitty, I never thought I was too cool for you, YOU thought I was too cool for you. I'll admit, you were probably right. I was very cool and still am. It's just that now you have matured to a level where you are no longer intimidated by my extreme coolness.
Let's get tour guide Ross planning our next trip.
