EFY. Three little letters that can change everything. A lot of youth talk about how EFY was the best thing that they have ever done in their entire life. It changed them. Cool. Well I never went to EFY but I did go to a couple of BY endorsed summer camps (I won't go into it but it really wasn't the best thing for me). But it does appear as if EFY is the absolute best thing for some of these kiddos. We returned to work from our blissful three-day weekend to find that EFY was indeed "in the house." All week I have walked along campus and been peppered with "peppi-ness." There are a lot of matching t-shirts, cheering, singing, and Frisbee playing on the lunch break. Apparently enough people are out of school to already start this program - which will be going on all summer. Sweet. Today everyone is dressed up in their Sunday best (a lot I mean a lot of white shirts and ties for the boys) - apparently there is a dance of some sort tonight. Maybe Greg and I will try and crash the party and pretend to be chaperones. Oh wait - nope we won't.On a sidenote - we went and tried out this Thai restaurant the other night - I've been drinking Mylanta as if it was water ever since.
*CONTEST* - My sister was pretty much a professional BY Camp Counselor - if you know her "code name" I'll knit you up something special - in about two years when I finish all my other projects.
Also - I had a really good title for this post - but I decided it might be too offensive - see Mom - I do edit myself!

Kris Tina, do not, i repeat DO NOT wear "Sunday clothes" on Thursdays for the remainder of the summer - if you do, many EFY counselors may mistake you for one of their groupies and forbid you from using the elevators or taking a "short cut" to the Bookstore. This happened to me EVERY TIME I wore a skirt or dress on Thursday last summer and it was SO annoying having to display my wedding ring and ID to prove that I wasn't a punk 17 yr. old kid trying to venture off campus.
Good luck!
You should try to separate one or two of those kids from their group and put them to work in your office. They won't find a better education or better time than that.
I just signed up for us to be counselors for EFY after the bar. I think the kids will benefit from our experience and KT's gentle reality checks. One of the bonuses to this is that we get to staff a dance every Thursday night all summer!! I hope they are still playing Forever Young, Just Can't Get Enough, Somebody, and something by Erasure.
I have to go play Frisbee with some of my new friends . . .
I never went to EFY myself, but Ryan assures me that it is the place to go for a good smoochfest. In fact, he went in San Antonio several times and has told me that the fountain is the place to meet for the kissing. I hope you guys can find the spot on BYU's campus where the romance is alive.
I never went to EFY either and I am proud of that. It is a crazy place. Although most of my family did and loved it, so what do I know?
I know what Carrie's name was, but since you're already knitting me something, I won't spill the beans.
I had a miserable time at EFY the year I went--just so you know. That's so funny you're making me the object of a contest. Jill would be the only one of your blogosphere audience to know that.
MY KIDS WILL NEVER GO TO EFY. My sister and I knew who got pregnant and EFY-nuff said!
