I know how everyone is dying to know how the move is going. Well, alright, not really - but since that is the most important thing that is going on in our life right now - I thought I would provide an update (and use this as an excuse to stop looking at President Nixon - see post below).1) With the move we still haven't unpacked everything (this takes time - especially because of the fixing up situation). So I found myself going to Omaha (work sends me to the most exotic locations) struggling to find some toothpaste. SWEET! Our visit to China yielded us with some great gift packs with some travel toothpaste. Oh wait - I didn't look at it closely enough - what I thought was toothpaste was really lotion. And yes, I did brush my teeth with this lotion twice before I realized that it wasn't toothpaste. I knew it tasted funny but I just thought, "Wow, those Chinese people have different taste in toothpaste." Kind of disgusting. (These are the best pics I could do of the imitation toothpaste/lotion - I'm no professional).
2)More paint trauma. We just spent five hours last night painting our bedroom lilac instead of grey. (It kind of looks grey in this picture - but I assure you - it's purple-ish). We're finished using Behr paint. Finito. Back to Ralph Lauren -Ralph knows his color and what it looks like on the color swatch is what it looks like on the wall. (But Stacy- thanks for your suggestion I'm definitely going to look into Greenbrier Beige by Benjamin Moore for the family room).
3) So far we've found only two broken items. My favorite platter (not used very often) and our favorite pitcher (used all the time with Crystal Lite). Both from Crate & Barrel. Why is it that the stuff from Walmart survives and the good stuff breaks?

It looks gray in the picture, but it just has a lilac feel to it. Why does Behr torture us with its colors?
I bet your teeth are soft and silky after all that brushing with lotion.
What was the name of the color you painted that you thought would be grey, but turned out lilac?
I cannot BELIEVE you brushed your teeth with lotion. That is literally the greatest thing I have heard all day.
Be sure to have a couple of steaks whilst you're in Omaha.
The color was "porpoise" it should have been called "lilacs on a spring day"
Did the lotion feel like toothpaste? I once brushed my teeth with hand soap accidentally... I spit it out pretty quick. Blah.
We painted a bathroom "Celtic Green" by Behr. The color is green-blue-grey-ish. I would recommend it for a bathroom.
I think I am going to love the color of these walls in the bedroom. I can hardly wait to see it.
Painting scares me and I need to re-paint the girls' rooms. Reading your blog isn't exactly giving me any courage. I don't dare buy Brighton sunglasses because of the very reason you mention. My gas station sunglasses will survive anything (and never ever get lost because they are always on top of the fridge.)
