it ain't over until you've got the keys

This morning we closed on the farm. Last night we went through the final walk-through and I can just tell from the moo-ing of the cows out our backyard that they are just as excited as we are. So yes, we are now officially back in debt. I say officially but we still don't have the keys yet. Maybe tomorrow. In the meantime, we are thinking of just camping out with the cows tonight to kind of start getting used to the dairy-air.

We will be posting some "before" pictures soon - and in five years (knowing our pace) we will then be posting some "after" pictures. But I thought that to celebrate this historic event I would show you some pictures of what NOT to do when you are putting your house up for sale.

1) Don't take a picture of dirty dishes in the your kitchen and expect to entice buyers.
2) Don't take a picture of your dirty bathroom and think that buyers will just come running.

*these are real pictures of real homes that we didn't even bother to go visit - I mean come on! Greg and I are thinking that we should open up a home staging photography business - we really have been watching too much HGTV.

We are ready to put all of our HGTV viewing experience to work on your home! Just give us a call - we'll make it look AWESOME.

There are some things even Photoshop can't fix! With all that family around you should be able to take some after shots in four years!

Those pics are seriously funny. I think I should take a photo of my basement for when we put our house on the market--"Look at all that storage!"

Hey guys it's my first comment for you. ;)Betcha didn't know I was stalking!!! I love your blog and your writing. You are so funny!!
I am so into HGTV and would love to stage people's houses too! It is amazing to me what people don't care about, notice, how they live, their taste etc. Funny thing though, almost all the houses I have ever bought were always the ugliest, messiest, ones I looked at. Somehow I was always able to look past the crazy stuff and see the diamond in the rough and get a good deal on them. ;) When I show my houses when I am selling them I freak out if there is garbage in the garbage cans or dust on the counters, weird stuff like that.
Have fun on the farm. Do you really smell the cows?

Ok, so did you really get a farm? If so, Karl the country boy will be mega jealous.

I would officially like to hire your staging services, but to enable me to live in my home properly and not for me to sell it. We still have only hung 2 pictures, and it's been 3 years.... Help!! Oh, and congratulations:)

Congrats on the home purchase. When will we be able to come and see it? I've always wanted to live on a farm. :)

It is time to start naming the cows. You will need to know what to call them during your sleepover.
