Primary reflections

Last week it was El Pops birthday. El Pops has always loved popcorn and popcorn related treats . . . so we decided to whip up these popcorn balls (see pic - they look disgusting but he ate them all so I guess they worked out alright). It was while making these popcorn balls that I was reminded of something that was very painful to me during my childhood.

In Primary we used to always sing the song "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree." I remember singing and pumping my hands with all my heart in an attempt to really make popcorn appear on the tree. It never worked. I was consistently disappointed and I always felt like that Primary chorister was just getting our hopes up with popcorn and then . . . nothing . . . just a big fat lie. I guess now I just chalk it up to one of life's great disappointments.

P.S. we gave El Pops more than just popcorn balls but I think my sister's post was his favorite gift

P.P.S. - contest winner/s to be announced soon - and I promise that it won't be toddcat

ALOHA!! Hard. You were really good at making those popcorn balls. It was like you had practiced all your life for this one moment. At least this time there was something delicious to eat. I always thought that we should at least get some apricot tree blossoms to make it more realistic when singing the song. I guess that's what we need to teach kids early in life - you just might end up with a handful of nothing.

You're wrong. They look good. Are you serious about the song? Were you like 3 when this happened to you?

And a handful of nothing is what I guess I'm going to end up with since Kitty refuses to let me collect my hard earned prize. If I don't win then my entertaining comments will be a thing of that past. Do make everyone suffer like that, Kitty. Don't you do it.
