The Title Says It All

The other night we watched Intolerable Cruelty. I wish we hadn't. The cruelty was releasing a movie that dull. Now, despite the word on the street - I do not love every movie that I see and I certainly did not like this one. It seemed like it would have all the elements of a good rom-com: A-list leads (George Clooney and Catherine Z-J), an interesting idea for a story, even a good director. None of that helped. It was just uncreative. It did have a bit of quirk to it, but not really in a good way. It really isn't even worth summarizing the movie in this review. Honestly, I think CZ-J got her part in Ocean's 12 because GC felt bad about what happened in this film. Luckily we checked it out from the library so our setback was just the two hours we will never get back. We could have been watching House Hunters on HGTV instead.

On our new movie rating scale of big screen, rental, or KT knitted the whole time so don't even bother, this particular movie finished up two different knitting projects and allowed KT to catch up on weeks archived blog posts in her Google Reader. Don't bother and don't be fooled by the cover which makes it look like it would be a decent romantic comedy.

Thanks for not telling everyone it was my fault we watched this stupid thing. It is obviously February - after all - that must be why I am hankering to watch some good romantic comedies. But you're right - this was nowhere near good. Not even close.

I'm a little confused as to why you think that cover made it look interesting, but whatever. If it's fun-filled action-packed comedy you're looking for stick to a sure thing...like the Pacifier starring Vin Diesel. From what I hear that movie must have gotten a lot of Oscar buzz.

I agree with ToddCat--Vin Diesel is your man. I AM sorry you subjected yourselves to this movie. I was mad at myself for even watching part of it on TV once.

Honestly, this is the first movie I've ever heard of you NOT liking--so I am running fast and furious away from this flick. Actually, the only movies I've ever heard of you not liking are movies you haven't seen yet--(oh wait, I guess I'm talking about books here. Harry Potter to be precise.)

I also did not like Strictly Ballroom, The Labyrinth, Beaches, Dumb & Dumber, What About Bob?, Dances With Wolves, JFK, and the Departed - just to name a few. There are more. I go into movies looking to be entertained, not looking for Oscar performances - although I do appreciate a "good" film - and I know the difference.

As for this Harry Potter nonsense, I have never said that don't like the books, I have just stated that there are other books that I would prefer to read. After the first two, I decided it was time to stop. I may revisit this decision at some point, but for now, they are low on the reading list.

Oh Greg--how can you NOT like "What About Bob?" That movie is seriously a laugh out loud classic. Whatever was left of my trust in your movie reviews has just disappeared. How did I not know you don't like Bob? Does Krissi know this?

I think you don't want to like Harry because the whole world does. But sometimes, the whole world is right about something.

Ross is terrified of scary movies and undoubtedly finds the Harry Potter books to be too frightening as well.

I can see that Ross' movie choices have left us all baffled, but we can solve the mystery of whether or not Ross has good taste in movies with one simple question… Ross, how do you feel about the classic hit film Big Business?

Thumbs down on Big Business. It is just not something I would want to revisit. Sorry Todd.

Carrie, What About Bob? is not that funny to me. I like Bill Murray, but not in that movie. Also, I'm not sure you are in a place to judge movie preferences when you did not like the new Superman movie or The Dark Knight. How can you not like TDK? My movie taste is supreme. Recognize.
