Lately I have observed students who think they are camping here on campus (a form of urban camping or "campus camping" as I like to call it). For instance, I entered a bathroom today to find a student washing out his bowl and spoon in the sink. I know there are not a lot of kitchen sinks around to properly wash up, but the bathroom sink should not be associated with dishes or food - ever. There is just something strange about it. Like when you are filling up your Nalgene bottle at the water fountain and the water pressure dips when you hear toilets flushing down the hall. Just not a good association. Washing your clothes in the bathroom sink is, however, a perfectly acceptable activity and measures up to campus camping's principles. The bathroom is open for multiple uses - don't get me wrong. Dishes are not included among them. On a side note, why was he carrying a ceramic bowl and standard table spoon? Does he not know the proper way to CC is to bring his food in some form of Tupperware? It was a weak effort at best - I mean, how do you store that in your backback? Bonus CC points would have been awarded had he been using either this or even this to eat his food.

Whoa - disgusting. Well I see students sleeping outside my office all the time. I also see students sitting very snuggly on the couches all the time. Both are disgusting. But filling up your water in the bathroom? Gross.
I'm assuming that you titled this blog Vol. 1 so that we may anticipate future volumes of your enlightening insight on campus etiquette. Perhaps you should consider offering a course called Campus Camping 101 to lead these students down the right path.
I was always amazed what you can get away with on a college campus. You can walk over sleeping people in the hall or on the lawn and not even look twice. Weird! Even sleeping people in the streets of Chicago draw a little attention.
I am excited for Vol 2 as well.
To my great astonishment, I often saw people napping on the couches in the bathroom! Forgive me, that's just too much.
KT,
I am also team Gretchen, I do think there are some holes in her story but her and Jeff look sincere! But I have always hated that B Tamra and will probably never get over it...well a rolex might help..as long as her skeezy son didn't touch it!!
I just read on Tam-B's blog that she hopes her and Gretch can be friends one day...pssshhh!
When we are back in UT can we have a club? but the meetings can not be in Prov because i will turn to dust (if not flames) if i go that far south!
