the taskmaster
Today is the last day of classes. Cool. Unfortunately, however, this requires me to be a bit of a jerk. In the syllabus and recent e-mail I sent to one of my classes I told them that I would not be accepting papers after 12:00 pm on the day of the class. Well, I have already had to tell three students that I wouldn't take their papers and they look at me like I am the biggest jerk in the world. No, I'm not. And I'm not asking for the world - this class is EASY to the limit. I guess it is better to teach them the cold hard truth now - rather than wait to learn it later. Sometimes you really are expected to follow a deadline.

I hope you told those students "thanks for trying".
Glad to know that it's not just my students.
There must be an epidemic.
one aspect of working at BYU that I DO NOT miss...
I just DARE one of those students to refer to you as Kris! That would really put you over the top.
Aw come on--you've never let anyone talk you into buying something you didn't want to buy. By 12:01, Those students don't have a prayer. What is the class anyway and why don't I know anything about it? I talk too much about myself I've decided and I'm going to reform.
They were probably counting on a little Christmas Charity. And you crushed it!
P.S I would have done the same thing, college students sometimes forget that they are adults, If I am 1 day late on my taxes they start charging me fines. Mayve you should accept monetary bribes!
My students are idiots. Same problems. I am too nice though. But you better check yourself on ratemyprofessor.com There could be a flurry of mean posts.
Bribe? Shana must be living in Chicago . . .
You tell them Krissy! I'd like to hear their excuses though. Were there any creative ones?
Good job Kris Tina. Let them have it.
Being a teacher is hard. Enough said . . .
