Because of this discussion we had to watch the debate. I was uncomfortable as Governor Palin continued to use colloquialisms to convey her "straight talk." I also wished that we were playing some sort of drinking game (non-alcoholic, of course) for how many times she said "maverick" and how many times Senator Biden said, "those are the facts" (19 but who's counting?).
In summary? It was like watching my sister, an extremely educated woman (she does have her masters degree - which is currently being held up by a magnet on her fridge)/PTA mom debate a senator with 35 years experience. I love my sister, but I think I have to vote for the Senator.
*I wish Tina Fey would have shown up to do the debate instead of Governor Palin - then it really would have been interesting.

I totally agree with you. :) Tina Fey is fantastic.
And the winking?
What was up with the winking?
OK--some how I missed the winking! It must have happened during my ice cream fest 3000.
I'll admit I expected both of them to be RIDICULOUSLY horrible, but I was surprised that neither of them made me cringe. Silly debaters. I look forward to the SNL reenactment.
Ah come on? You don't think I could run the country? Are you aware of how much money I raised for the PTA last year? Do you know that we have a map in the kitchen that we consult regularly to find where places are? I could do it. I could.
But she's so folksie! So down home! And that beauty pageant smile, at any moment I thought she was going to break out in a parade wave. If that's what this country has come to, we are in real trouble!!
Let's not forget another hobbie Carrie and Sarah Palin have in common....moose hunting from a helicopter.
I can't believe I forgot to mention that! My sister loves to shoot moose from a helicopter - skin the moose and then harvest all the meat. She stores it in her freezer in the garage. Gosh - it's like she and Sarah Palin are exactly alike . . . almost.
