Try 1: Six days after KT fought the law, I went to the circuit court dungeon and waited in line 1 for about 20 minutes. That brought me to a booth where I was told that the ticket had not been filed yet. How long does it take to enter a ticket into the system? Longer than 6 days.
Try 2: Yesterday I made my next attempt. Line 1 was much better – only about 5 minutes, but the “gentleman” that assisted me was only semi-understandable and surly as he looked up the ticket and told me to go wait in Line 2 for the cashier. I went to the Line 2 corral until I was summoned to a counter to write our new address on a sheet. A few minutes and some frantic behind the counter conversations later, I was denied again. The bottom line was that I couldn’t pick up KT’s license for her and they couldn’t mail it since the address on the license was for our old apartment. Strike two.
Try 3: Today I took my attorney (aka “the perp”) with me. After checking my super-dangerous micro swiss army knife into a holding locker, I joined KT in Line 1. The surging lunch-time crowd was attended to by one person. We kept thinking we were in a Chicago post office. Luckily we finally made it to Line 2 where we paid. Only 3 tries.
We did learn that paying with a credit card involves filling out a paper sheet, calling some 800 number, and then going to some separate location where they can actually swipe the card. Awesome. They probably shouldn't advertise all over the cashier’s corral that you can easily pay with a card. Luckily we had the checkbook.
Hat’s off to the Circuit Court payment center for making the post office seem efficient. I didn’t think that was possible.

Ross--I'm glad that you can finally put this hellish ordeal behind you. It's interesting to me that your attorney, the one who has taken a vow to uphold the law, is the one who violated it. Very interesting indeed.
It was a U-TURN - that's it - a U-TURN! This experience has only encouraged me (even more so ) to simply maintain Ross as my chauffeur extraordinarie - after all I can't (apparently) be trusted on the road.
Well we all know who the real culprit here is right? From what I understand there was a little devil on Kitty's shoulder telling her to do it...or was he in the backseat?
Ross, that is one of the worst stories I've ever heard. I used to think the lines at the Harris County DMV were bad -- but my pain was nothing, nothing compared to that.
KTC, I am shocked SHOCKED. Don't you know that 89.2% of all U-turn related deaths are caused by people making illegal U-turns? I cannot believe that you would treat the law -- and indeed your safety and the safety of others -- with such consious disregard.
I wouldn't have done it - but Toddcat just sat there saying, "Oh just do it - I would do it" I should have known - always do the opposite of what the Toddcat says. Always the opposite.
Yeah it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you do the opposite of what Todd says. I'm just surprised it took you this long to figure it out.
Kitty is a LIAR! I never said "just do it". I said "I would do it", but I also wouldn't have gotten caught by doing it right in front of a cop. The best part of the whole thing was right after geting pulled over Kitty was whining about how that cop could have just let her off with a warning (even though she confessed the second he walked up to the car window) and Ross wouldn't stop reminding her "YOU BROKE THE LAW, KITTY, YOU BROKE THE LAW!" Very helpful, Ross.
That's because she was wondering why in the world she was pulled over. The answer is because she broke the law. When you pull an illegal move like that in front of the cop, they pretty much have to pull you over.
He didn't have to pull me over - clearly it was a very very very safe move - NO ONE was around. NO ONE . . . except for the blasted cop.
Kitty, that cop explained to you that he pretty much HAD to give you a ticket for you doing that illegal u-turn because of all the rain. So what if the "rain" he was refering to was a light sprinkle? The point is you broke the law and you needed to pay your debt to society. You aren't even displaying the slightest remorse for your criminal actions and that make me think perhaps the DMV was too lenient on you. I wish you would have taken it to court so Ross and I would be subpeonaed to testify. I'd recreate the whole incident for the jury.
What's up with attorneys breaking the law. Karl gets more tickets than anyone I know and he is currently driving around with registration that expired in May! Geez, Ross, you seriously get some points for going to pay HER ticket... three times.
