Naps

We really like naps in our house. Really. In fact, the best thing about church at 9:00 am means we get to take a nice, delicious Sunday afternoon nap. However, as much as I like naps - I also am a bit of a nap nazi. I fear that if we sleep too much on Sunday afternoon we won't be able to go to sleep Sunday night and we'll wake up Monday morning feeling un-rested and un-ready for the week . . . oh the cycle! So I patrol our naps. I have heard myself say (at church) - "Greg let's hurry and get home so we can take our nap" (with the theory being that if we nap earlier in the day we won't ruin our nighttime slumber). Additionally, I don't really let us nap in our bedroom. The couch will do (I don't want our bodies to think it is nighttime). Finally, because of this fear I have an internal clock that only allows my naps to last about an hour (sometimes longer if I can get away with it) - and I kind of force Greg (nicely) to keep the same nap schedule. Needless to say, Greg does not like this "patrolling."

Also I think from this blog post you can tell that not much is going on this week. Not much at all.

Oooh. I LOVE my Sunday nap -- but I'm afraid that I cannot get behind the nap-patrol. An hour? I take that kind of nap every day in my office. A Sunday nap needs to be longer -- to let you feel like you've truly treated yourself. I've done a lot of research in this area and my findings indicate that the perfect Sunday nap begins at about 1:00 pm and lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours. That way you feel indulged but you don't run into the Sunday night insomnia problem.

I really miss the freedom to nap--really and truly. But, I admit that I worry constantly that the napping was going to upset my normal sleeping schedule and that can really ruin a nap. The Goose gets to sleep 12 hours each and every night AND take two naps a day. it just doesn't seem fair. Maybe I will just close my eyes for a few...

I attest, Kitty won't hang around and chat she is always in a hurry for some nap. I understand though, when it comes to having friends and taking naps, some people just pick naps!

I'll confess I have been known to schedule home teaching and visiting teaching visits around Sunday afternoon naps. And when I say "known" I mean my home teachers would actually ask me when I was planning on taking my nap so they wouldn't interfere. It was sacrosanct. Those were the days....

Whoa...if you don't come up with some more exciting blog post topics your readers will all be napping.

Shana, rest assured that I would NEVER put a nap before our friendship. I guess I'm just a better friend to you than Kitty. I'm sure you didn't need me to tell you that though.

Lily, you are really pulling out the big guns with your vocabulary. Nice work! Kitty, maybe you could start a Word of the Week blog post and see who can use that weeks word the most times while commenting on your various blog posts. It would be fun and educational for everyone.

Frankly, a week full of naps sounds down right exciting to me. I hope all your little nap regulations are working for you (and your marriage).

I love naps. Too bad my house goes to crap when I nap. Either that or I use the TV to babysit. They both make me feel guilty but definatly don't stop me. Sunday naps are a must.

Oh, I can't stand it when my nappy time gets disturbed. I think that if you feel tired, you should sleep . . . until you wake up. That's nature's way.
