Richard Nixon died 14 years ago today. Some might choke on their granola to hear this, but I believe it is appropriate that this year Earth Day coincides with Nixon RIP Day. Whatever you may think of Nixon, he did some surprisingly liberal things like create the Environmental Protection Agency. He was also responsible for lowering the speed limit to 55 to conserve gasoline (which then lead to a Sammy Hagar song which isn't a proud legacy). Hey, what about the Clean Air Act, you might ask? Signed by Nixon. Nixon' creation of the EPA helped back up the spirit of Earth Day.
So on this Earth Day in 2008, let us just take a small moment of our day and give thanks to the president that made it all happen. Rest in Peace President Nixon.

Also, for this post I changed from my normal Arial typeface to use Trebuchet. Just changing it up.

I saw the picture to this post and threw up in my mouth.
Also a shout out to my brother who celebrates his birthday today. You know - the brother who is the rapper/bus-driver/surgeon.
When I started reading this post, well before I got to the "posted by" section, I was POSITIVE this could only be the work of Ross. It's a good thing he's around to help us appreciate and remember the changing political climate.
Richard Nixon would have found the documentary I watched on polar bears suffering from the effects of global warming chilling.
Lindy - you speak the truth - just like Weezer from Steel Magnolia's -Ross has very distinctive blog posts.
Ross, you and Alex P. Keaton and the only two people so in love with Richard Nixon, who invented the EPA and is not a crook (allegedly).
Also, I'd recognize that penmanship anywhere. Ross, you have the handwriting of a serial killer.
He also started the "war on cancer"...pretty cool man for that!
Thanks for the history lesson Ross!
I had no idea that Richard Nixon was so green! He was ahead of his time.
Also, as I was reading, I kept having the feeling that something was different about the post -- something a little unsettling -- and then I read your note about changing the font and it all became clear. I am a true believer in the power of the proper font.
