Don't Worry - I'm Fine

I've had a couple of people ask if I'm OK while here in Atlanta. Last Friday, a tornado ripped through downtown, right next to the CNN/Omni hotel which was providing my lodging. Luckily, we left town on Thursday. I didn't really think about it much, but this week they have been cleaning up glass from all the windows that were blown out by the storm. I'm no photo-journalist. In fact I could use some serious lessons in that area, but here are a few photos that really don't do the extent of the damage justice. Seriously, broken glass is everywhere. In fact this afternoon there was a thunder shower with wind and they shut down several streets. Just to get back to my hotel after work I had to do this crazy walking detour. Check it out.

All those white squares are blown out windows. And look at the Westin, lots of broken glass in the tower - crazy.

Greg, I am glad you are ok, but really I am more worried about you ditching your wife for a whole month. Talk about stormy weather.

Amen, Shana. Amen. Also, Ross, we are like ships passing in the night. I was in Atlanta last Saturday. We weren't downtown, so we didn't see the damage, but we did have a close, personal encounter with some nasty weather as we were leaving the city. We drove through heavy rain, into marble-sized hail, and then spent the rest of the drive from Atlanta to Montgomery trying to keep the car from being blown off the road by the wind. Crazy.

P.S. There is a Pappasitos just off of I-75 on the northside of Atlanta. Y'all should take a trip -- you won't be sorry.

I love Abby's absolute dedication to Pappasitos. If you ever have a Pappasitos related inquiry, she's your gal.

Ross--if you need to visit some family in Atlanta, you can visit my Unlce Terry and Aunt Marianne. They say things like, 'you know, croissants are really high in fat. I think I'll just have a piece of cake." that's the kind of logic I can get on board with.

Stay safe!

Well, I am not one to meddle in other people's marriages, but since I am practically a member of this one I feel comfortable speaking up. Ross, what on earth are you doing risking life and limb in far away cities whilst leaving your wife all alone and unsupervised? Thank goodness she has Jessica Fletcher solving all those murders to keep her distracted and out of trouble.

Also, what the freak Abby? You go on a trip to Atlanta and don't invite me? I don't know when I've ever been so hurt.

I'm doing my duty (or something like that). Believe me, I would rather be freezing in Chicago than dodging glass shards in Atlanta. It's a nice city and all, but four weeks straight of travel are not awesome. When I get down about it, I just remember the soldiers that are gone for months at a time in a very hostile environment - puts things into perspective a little. Don't worry, next week I am all Chicago and all KTC.

Also, did I mention that I miss KTC? Cuz I do. See you tonight!

Wow - I read Ross's comment and put my hand over my heart. I had no idea that you were such an Ameri-CAN.

Oh, Ross, your travel stories are alway so dramatic. It's like the time you were on a plane that sat on the tarmack for and extra 30 minutes and you went on an on as if it was a life altering experience. When you are suffering through your trying travel experiences and thinking of those soldiers, don't forget to think of me, the one who travels every single week not knowing what I might encounter in an airport or hotel. I am living life on the edge and there is no better adrenaline rush than that.

Ross is proud to be an American, where at least he knows he's free. And he can't forget the Todd who travels to give that right to him. So he'll proudly stand up--next to todd and travel on as well...

You can see this song was going down the tubes and fast!

Oh Todd, I'm in Atlanta all the time. (And by all the time, I mean every few months.) After all, I live in the South and Atlanta is the Emerald City of the South--all roads lead there and everyone who is anyone lives there, or at least wishes they did. (You think I'm exaggerating but that's the way people talk about it.)

I'll let you know the next time I head over there. I can pick you up at the airport on my way into town and we can go to Pappasitos. (P.S. Lindy, of course I'm dedicated to Pappasitos -- when you find food this good, you have to hold on to it, heart and soul--like Ryan and Chilis and Ross and those sandwiches in Spain.)

I would love an airport pick up. It's nice to know that there are people in this world who do not think they are too good to pick up a freind from the airport. Kitty REFUSES to pick me up when I visit her in Chicago. She always has a laundry list of reasons, but it boils down to 2 things: 1) she is a lazy jerk, and 2) her clunker of a car would probably not survive the trip.

If Atlanta is the dream city all the Southerners seem to think it is, then maybe its time we moved there, Abby. We could be roommates and everyone would come visit us because they all want to be in Atlanta and are so jealous that we will be living there.

Toddcat - two things:
1) I'm sick and tired of you telling us that our car is junk. We are working on it. But it works

2) I'm sick and tired of you always trying to steal all my friends away. Sick of it! Abby has her loyalties - and they are too me. After all, I gave her half of a best friend necklace. We know what that means.

Todd, I accept. I'll start looking for jobs and apartments immediately. Also, KTC, you don't have to be jealous -- you can come too! We can all move in together (and it really will be Three's Company). Ross practically lives there anyway. You can keep your Chicago place so that he has a place to land when he goes back there from time to time. I really think this is a good move for all of us.

Kitty, I have a couple of things to say to you:

1) You are full of it if you are trying to tell me you are "working on it" with that car. Just get a new one already, either a Mini or a Hummer, I don't care which.

2) I have no choice but to move on if you can't give me the BFF status that I so clearly deserve. You made your choice and because of it Abby and I are moving on...and in together. That is until Jill catches wind of this and puts up a fight.
