Say it ain't so Subey! Friday night as we were rightously on our way to the ward Game Night, the Subaru started acting funny. By that I mean 1st gear was slipping and transmission fluid was leaking. Not good. I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with the donuts I like to do in the parking lot . So then we had to take her to the hospital on Monday morning. It just so happens that Aunty Jo gave me the name of a crack mechanic on Ashland and Archer that took a look and sent us to a transmission shop. He was so nice! You never really know who to trust with your car, but I think we found two great places because I really liked the transmission place too. The Subaru is ready to roll and we pick her up tomorrow morning. It was a close call, but I think she will pull through and we can add to those 180,000 miles we've put on her. As much as we love the car, it might be time for a new one. We are starting up the search machine for the next vehicle. More to come. In the mean time, if you need a good mechanic or transmission shop, give us a call - will recommend.

Subaru is in the Hospital

how sad, that car was one of the best things that ever happened to us in Chicago when we had Nicole. But if you want any advice of what make of car to get, I have to say from experience that Camrys are nice and reliable and last forever. Forever.
As nice as the Camry's are - I am really really really partial to a mini. I mean mini's make no sense but it would be so much fun. I'm just working on convincing Greg.
Oooh a mini would be the perfect car in Chicago! Think of all the tiny spaces you'd be able to park in.
I'm concerned that Ross thinks it MIGHT be time to get a new car. The Subaru has been on her last leg for a long time now, and it's no wonder the way you two take care of her. You let her run low on all sorts of fluids and any time something breaks on her your response to the situation is "oh, let's just learn to live without that convenience." Having this attitude about the gas gage has lead to countless times of being stranded after completely running out of gas. Countless times! Yes, it is high time you dumped the old broad. (No, Ross, I don't mean Kitty.) You need to get rid of that car, but while you are shopping for a new one I think you should drive the Subaru as much as possible and see if she can make it over 200,000 miles.
One comment on Ross's donuts - he seriously LOVES LOVES LOVES to make the Subey do horrible things. I just sit there like a grandma with my hands placed on my lap - after doing a couple of 360's I just ask him, "are we finished?" and then we go park the car. He's pretty talented.
