Weekend Round-Up

This past weekend we continued to be "the couple that does stuff." KT has already talked about the "couple that has stuff happen to them" portion of the weekend. I am sad about losing my mountain bike that served me so well, but we are moving on. For extra protection of my future bike I am having the new bike chain forged out of adamantium. That should help.

So here are the highlights:

A Prairie Home Companion at Ravinia Festival - We have listened to the radio show off and on and thought it would be fun to see it being recorded. Plus, we wanted to check out the Ravinia Festival venue. So we took the Subaru to the ghetto KFC and waited forever for some chicken. I had a hankering for the colonel's chicken. Unfortunately I always think it will taste better than it really is. Back to the show - the grounds are beautiful and people had spread out with blankets and picnics that made our bucket-o-grease look shameful. We found that you can't actually see the act unless you are in the seats up close. So everybody else has to listen while enjoying the lawn and the food. Lucky for us, it was a beautiful day. I don't remember much about the show, but we really enjoyed being there.
Father's Day (or Boy's Day) - Kris Tina did a great job organizing fun family calls and getting a hip Puma jacket for her main man. Thanks KT, and a big shout out to the dads. We love you.

Barenaked Ladies Concert - The concert was practically on Lake Michigan and rain threatened, but the good weather held out. What a great venue. The band rocked and we enjoyed the people watching. Nothing like a concert to bring out the weirdos (us included). Can't wait to return for Ben Folds in a couple of weeks. I did wuss out on the way home because my feet were hurting and conviced KT to ride the El back home. Sorry about your steps KT.

Wow! That’s the biggest blog update yet. You had quiet an action packed weekend. I know your bike loss has hit you pretty hard, but references to fake metals from Marvel comic books…really? I’m worried people are going to think you are a big nerd. I think it’s best to keep that fact under wraps as long as you can, but now it may be too late.
